Maxxfan day. I’ve had this thing sitting in the basement for a year and a half now. It’s bout time to put it in. The days are getting colder and winter is approaching it was a beautiful day out so I figured why not. Plus I wanted to make up for spending the last few days on my back under the bus, ha! It would have been nice to put this in this spring but the AC was a priority. I also didn’t feel like going on the roof in the summer heat. I started by marking the spot, drilling 4 holes through from the inside to out. Then cut down a jigsaw blade to only go through one layer at a time. I then cut through the roof layer and test fit the plastic trim ring. It was a tad undersized so I used the jigsaw to widen. After that fit, I cut through the wood ceiling. I then used some aluminum tape all the way around the hole, I overlapped it on the roof about 1/8″. Then I used a layer of butyl tape and fastened the trim ring in. Then ran wiring from the fuse black to the fan. I keep using the 16/2 speaker wire for internal wiring cause I like the fact it has a plastic jacket. I used Lap sealant all the way around the roof trim and over each screw head. Then I dropped in the fan, screwed it down. I wired it in from the inside. I then had to cut down the trim ring, that was a task. I pushed it into place before cutting, marked with a sharpie all 4 corners. Then flipped the measurements and cut on those measurements. It’s hard to describe, sorry. Once that was cut I installed it and screwed it down.
