The last few days I’ve been disassembling the turbo/manifold assembly and getting it cleaned up. About 4 blocks from my house a new Harbor Freight opened up so I stopped in and walked out with a new 20gl Air Compressor, Sandblast cabinet, and 40gl parts washer, plus a bunch of misc tools and parts. This new HF is going to be bad for my wallet.

Disassembled. Pro Tip, to remove the exhaust assembly from the turbo cartridge wedge a 8mm deep well socket in between the housing and bolt and back out the bolt. This will push the exhaust housing off the turbo cartridge so you won’t have to beat the hell out of it with a hammer.

Another shot of parts.

New toy number 1. Stopped at Tractor Supply and picked up some PSC 1000 parts washer fluid. Note to self, pick up 2 5gl buckets next time so you can use the pump.

More new Toys. Sandblast cabinet, slightly modified. I only bought the dust cyclone and made sure all the seams were caulked well. More mods will be necessary though. The other toy is the 20gl Air Compressor since I’ve been using the same 8gl for 15 years. The CFM isn’t what the cabinet needs but I’m hoping it will do since I can’t afford to run a 220v outlet in the garage to handle a bigger air compressor. Update: It works pretty well as is, not great, but ok.

Waiting on the rebuild kit and new Intake wheel. I went with a wheel and kit from Turbo labs of America. He has an eBay and Amazon shop and was a reasonable price and based on his YouTube videos seemed very knowledgeable on these turbos.
