Spent nearly all day covered in bus grease. I got the exhaust manifold and turbo back on and torqued down. Replaced the oil pressure sensor, added a 45degree adapter to avoid it hitting the alternator like it had been. Started wiring up the new oil pressure gauge and the new EGT sensor. Rebuilt the original Fuel injectors, pulled apart and ran through the ultrasonic, new crush gaskets and O rings. Put the injectors back in. Set Valve lash, only 3 of the 24 we’re within spec. Started to put the whole thing back together and ran out of energy. Now to take a nap, till tomorrow.
On the 16th I was able to finish up putting all the engine components back together. I hooked up the battery and started cranking, and cranking, and cranking. Nothing. Well after cracking the fuel lines and bleeding out the air, it fired right up. She ran beautifully! It smoked pretty good at first but went down to normal after a couple minutes. I let it run for almost an hour and it ran great.
The next morning I started it up and it fired right up! I moved it back and forth in the driveway a bit and after about 5 times I noticed a drip of something at the front of the bus. I looked under and found the master cylinder leaking! I just can’t catch a break! So I crawled under the bus and pulled off the master cylinder since I couldn’t find and casting marks on it since it was so darn dirty and rusty. I took the cylinder to the bench and hit it with a wire wheel and found the casting. Ordered up a reman unit and it should be here in the next few days.
Next step is to make sure I can get out all the brake bleeders otherwise I’m buying new calipers.
